Performance drive plates will themselves handle an increase in torque. However to gain the maximum advantage from an upgraded clutch, the performance drive plate should be fitted together with a performance cover plate. Typically used in chip-tuned / re-mapped road cars.  When fitted with a Sachs Performance clutch plate, they can handle a substantial increase in torque compared to standard OE clutches.
